Listing Details

Picturesque Pitstone Windmill makes a great photo, with the Ivinghoe Hills in the background. In an area with plenty of walking footpaths and other outdoors places of interest, it's well worth incorporating into a walk, or set as it is in the middle of a field, maybe a picnic?

The windmill itself is a very rare early example of a post mill. Created in the 1600s to mill grain for flour.

A lovely spot, and a great place for the sunset and sunrise photos. Admittedly it is just the windmill, but a very special and rare one, with its setting in the fields between Ivinghoe Beacon and college lake nature reserve, the canals, and the reservoirs near Tring, it really is well worth visiting and taking in the windmill on a walk of the local countryside.
